Wycombe- 16th April
With us unable to make it to
We met up with the team at Gigg, got directions, picked up Wozza, decided on a service station to meet at we set off. We set off following John, who was in a hire car for the day, and headed off for
The game started with Stu up front with TomZ, MarkH at centre half and Wozza at left back. MarkN was on the bench to start with as he had been up all night and Jimmy thought he would be tired, and so allowed young Nick a run on the right wing. The game started well, with FBFC throwing everything at Wycombe but an excellent display from their keeper, the score stayed 0-0. Wycombe were attacking heavily down the right and FBFC struggled to attack down the right due to lack of experience and strength from young Nick so Jimmy bought on Mark (whose red bull had kicked in, to wake him up) after 20mins. The game carried on and FBFC looked much stronger going forward with some good balls into the box from Mark, and one which put Stu through clean with the keeper, only to be pulled down. If this were professional football their player would be taking an early bath but the Ref (from Wycombe) only awarded a free kick. Half time arrived and the score was 0-0.
The game restarted and FBFC quickly went 2-0 up. Then a schoolboy error from MarkH sent their striker through on goal, whose shot beat Neil and was going in until John pushed the ball away with his hand. A penalty was awarded, which they scored from to make it 2-1. After that FBFC didn’t look back and goals from Alan and Ant, the game finished 4-1. After a shower we went to their social club for something to eat and watch the F.A cup semi final. At 14:15 we made our way to the ground, put up the flag and cheered on the lads. Bury played well but were unlucky to go behind. Bury attacked and 13minutes later Whaley scored and we went mad. Wycombe had most of the play till half time and after some great saves from Garner, we went in 1-1, which it stayed at for most of the half until a quick short corner from Boschell to Flicker who crossed the ball to the back post only for it to go in for Bury to take the lead for the first time in the game. This woke up the Bury fans as we looked for a 3rd but it didn’t come but we won the game 2-1. After a great game, super result for both Bury and FBFC we set off back to Bury, which Mark spent most of the time asleep. We arrived back in Bury 19:00. A big thanks to MarkH for driving. See you next season.
