Oakwell, Barnsley

Tuesday 6th December 2005
No. 54. Oakwell,
League One:
With Bury’s Tuesday night game at Barnet switched to the previous Saturday, it left us a free Tuesday.
Unable to find a programme seller outside, Glenn wandered off to try and find one, and with still no luck we went to sit down. At which point, Glenn went to the toilet, and on his return to his seat he was collared by 3 stewards asking him for his ticket, and was told he was going up the wrong gangway to his seat and instructed him to go up the correct gangway. He wandered back to the group to tell us, only for the steward to follow him and abruptly tell us to ‘sit in our correct seats or we’ll chuck you arrt’. Astonished at the rudeness of the steward and the stupidity of being told to sit in our correct seats with an attendance of 7’000 in a 23’000 seater stadium, we reluctantly moved. Glenn was fuming by this point and refused to move until the match finished in case he got collared again!
The game itself was entertaining end-to-end stuff and Barnsley were very lucky to run out 2-1 winners with Tranmere missing big chances and
Glenn was still fuming when we got home at 23:30.
