Tranmere Rearguard 1-3 FBFC

Chester City 2-1 Bury

March has been kind to the Shakers, and with the results the lads have been getting the Walshaw Whites headed off for our Neighbours Chester, for the last game in the Easter break.  As per usual Stu and Mark decided to play in the fans team, but unfortunately the Chester lads couldn’t get a pitch.  However at the last minute we arranged a game against Tranmere. The day start with us meeting at Gigg Lane at 08:30, and with there being more cars then we needed Stu, Mark and MarkH all jumped in Wozza’s car. After some mad driving at high speed we arrived at Tranmere within the hour, where we got changed. Stu started the game on right wing and the two Mark’s were on the bench. The game kicks off and Tranmere take the game to Bury and Stu has to spend more time at right back than right wing. FBFC went ahead just before half time with a stunning left foot volley from our left back Martin. However within 30seconds of the game restarting Trammere score to make it level at half time.

Half time changes saw Mark going right back and Mark.H in the middle.  The game kicks off and Tranmere take the game to Bury again but the defence was more solid now, which allowed Stu to spend more time on the wing.   Unfortunately, he was carrying an injury and was shattered from covering John at right back and he went after 60minutes.  After that FBFC didn’t look back and won the game 3-1. After a quick shower and change we headed off to a pub in Chester for something to eat.  Time was getting on and at 14:20 we decided to make our way to the ground and meet the rest of the team inside.  Five minutes down the road we hit match traffic and decided to follow the Chester car in front.  Not sure where the away end is, Mark jumped out and asked the car in front and we ended up giving a Chester fan a lift to the ground, but we didn’t mind as he was slagging off Rush and Chester.

We just made kick off and after 20minutes, the Shakers go ahead through CKR, and we started singing even more, cheering on the lads. Half time came and Bury go in 1-0 up but it should have been 3 or 4.  Second half started and Bury were all over Chester but, football will be football, and the only thing Chester do for 30mins is score to make it 1-1. The game continues and Bury pushed forward and throw everything at Chester but just couldn’t score, but Chester did and won the game 2-1.  Straight after the game, it was a mad dash back to Bury as England under 19’s were playing at Gigg and all four of us wanted to watch it. Unfortunately we hit the traffic that we did on the way in but Wozza cursed us by saying “soon as we get away from Chester we will be ok”.  However when we hit the motorway, we hit a traffic jam and took us 40mins to drive 6miles.  An hour and 15mins later and a good sing song along to the Radio we got back to Gigg at 19:00.  Wozza being under the thumb had to go home but the rest of us shot up to KFC for some tea.  With only 15mins till kick off, we decided to fly back to Gigg and take our tea into Gigg.   It was a scrappy game but England won 1-0.  Hopefully the Shakers can take the form into Saturday’s local derby against Rochdale, where 3 points will see us safe.
