Full Scale Here

Sheffield Wednesday 2-4 West Ham United

Carling Cup 2nd Round

"What we doing tomorrow night Stu?"

"Dunno Glenn, why you ask?"

"There's some Carling Cup games tomorrow, you fancy going Rotherham v Leeds"

"Yeah, ok".

*24 hours later*

"Hi Stu, we're not going Rotherham, we're going Sheff Wed, its cheaper!"

So off we popped, via Tesco for money and petroleum, and onto the M62 heading for Sheffield, our 51st ground on the quest for the 92, and our 7th new ground this calendar year.

Traffic on the M62 was light and apart from queueing traffic getting onto the M1, the journey was relatively trouble free. We came off the M1 at junction 36, and travelled down the A61. Traffic was slow moving but we were outside Hillsborough for 19:30. We parked up in a car park directly opposite, got our ticket from the ticket office, and made our way round to the North stand.

The game was not even 2mins old when West Ham scored through Bobby Zamora. Things settled down after this and the teams went in 1-0 at half time. The second half started fairly even but it was West Ham who doubled their lead through a bullet header from 'Scottish International' Christian Dailly. This was followed by a hopeful punt forward which confused goalkeeper and defender and resulted in Zamora smashing a right foot volley over the keeper for 3-0.

Wednesday got one back through a corner, the crowd got behind them, and they followed it up with a cool finish from Graham from 18yards to pull it back to 3-2. Game On. Graham then missed a glorious chance to level the scores, only for David Bellion to run on to a through ball and finish coolly past Lucas. The game was a great advert for cup footy, and a great watch for the neutral.

Although abusing Neil Warnock through chants is always worth the entrance fee alone!
